in smoke by the 100 foot-mark. Reed with the best pass of his career.
Left Lane: Jim Head Runs 4.812/301.87, Now #1
Right Lane: Louie Allison Runs 5.640/206.89, Now #3

lost an engine.

up by 1%. Millican is to unveil his sponsor at five pm this afternoon.
Right Lane: Paul Romine Runs 4.980/288.09, Now #3
Romine was laboring through the middle of the run, but still good enough for
the third spot. That wraps up round one of Top Fuel with round two later

Bailey launched hard and was able to keep the candles lit all the way
through the 1320 to get in the show for now. Allison launched and then pedaled it
around the 100-foot mark. Then around half track there were a lot sparks coming
from the rear end. It the looked like rear end came off of the car and flew over
the wall landing in front of the scoreboard. The car then slid into the left lane
and along the guardwall, finally coming to a stop at the end of the track. Louie
is out of the car and talking with the PTS safety crew, and he is fine. There is
speculation now that maybe they lost a rear slick and that started the chain of
events.

(L) Paul Romine (CARQUEST Racing Dragster) 0.499 9.154 86.44

over for the CARQUEST driver at that point.

Millican
will get his pick of lanes over Jim Bailey, and Head with the choice over Wayne

down.

(L) Jim Bailey (Snap-On Racing Dragster) 0.498 4.915 281.25
