Results for Elimination Rnd 1
EPPING, N.H. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 1 eliminations in Omega
Performance TS Shootout at the 5th annual Amalie Oil Northern Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed
(W) Matt Grillo ('53 Corvette) 0.497 6.965 203.49
(L) Tim DeCoff ('67 Nova) 0.474 7.255 200.537:02 PM As usual, the New England Dodge Dealers "Night of Fire" opens with
the Omega Performance Top Sportsman Quick Eight Shootout. "The Lizard Man" was
shooting ducks on the launch, his engine popping and banging, but it cleaned up
and he won from behind by a margin of victory = 0.267 seconds (approximately 79
feet).
(W) Sal Passarelli ('68 Nova) 0.488 7.004 205.35
(L) Ron Iannotti ('95 Corvette) 0.595 19.976 No SpeedTwo local boys meet in this pairing. Iannotti launched into severe shake,
the engine going silent and coasting down the track. Passarelli also had problems
with shake on the launch, but not as violently, and he was able to backpedal and
get out of it.
(W) Glen Maine ('67 Nova) 0.659 7.110 192.19
(L) Terry Hall ('36Chevy) 0.554 7.436 194.35After a quick cleanup in the right lane where Iannotti's car lost some
fluids, racing resumed with a pair of drivers from a little further away - New
York and Vermont. Hall's car is still in black primer, but it will be a beauty, a
'36 Chevy panel delivery truck, cut down, with the wing on the rear of the roof.
Both drivers had problems getting launched here, shaking hard, and both
backpedaled, Maine getting hooked up first to win by a Margin of victory = 0.221
seconds (approximately 63 feet). He will face Grillo next round.
(W) Scot Johnson ('92 Firebird) 0.460 7.265 182.38
(L) Jon Anderson ('95 Corvette) 0.810 7.046 195.34Johnson got a huge head start, Anderson very late, but the race got very
close on the top end when Johnson got very sideways and had to lift, the Margin of
victory = 0.131 seconds (approximately 38 feet). Johnson will face Passarelli
next round.

Results for Elimination Rnd 2
EPPING, N.H. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 2 eliminations in Omega
Performance TS Shootout at the 5th annual Amalie Oil Northern Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed
(W) Sal Passarelli ('68 Nova) 0.506 6.738 206.54
(L) Scot Johnson ('92 Firebird) 0.497 7.576 143.46
7:48 PM Johnson's car lost momentum early in the run, falling way behind
Passarelli.
(W) Glen Maine ('67 Nova) 0.690 7.256 190.51
(L) Matt Grillo ('53 Corvette) 0.467 6.724 209.17
The "Lizard Car" got a huge holeshot and then Maine's engine started eating
parts, trailing a huge cloud of smoke. Wait - word comes that Grillo left before
the green, something under the car triggering the stage lights and preventing a
red light. So the winner is Maine, broken engine and all.

Results for Final Round
EPPING, N.H. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 3 eliminations in Omega
Performance TS Shootout at the 5th annual Amalie Oil Northern Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed
(W) Sal Passarelli ('68 Nova) 0.467 6.912 206.89
(L) Glen Maine ('67 Nova) 0.702 8.382 161.48
8:55 PM Maine gave all indications his car was broken when he showed up,
not making a burnout across the line and staging with a smoking engine. When the
light turned green Passarelli left cleanly, no red light, and when Maine hit the
throttle there was a huge nitrous "burp" under the car, with a big flash of flame,
then the car went down the lane, well off the racing pace.
