Results for Elimination Rnd 1
EPPING, N.H. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 1 eliminations in
Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley at the 5th annual Amalie Oil Northern Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed
(W) Jack Romine (Homewood H-D '99 Harley) 0.501 7.095 193.82
(L) Jim McClure ('98 Harley) 0.555 (Broke)
12:20 PM The #1 qualifier is out'a here in a big upset, McClure's engine
sputtering into silence on the launch. Romine has yet to get into the sixes at
this event, but there are no style points in drag racing, a "W" is a "W."
(W) Steve Stordeur (Mancuso Racing '99 Harley) 0.482 7.344 202.61
(L) Bill Furr (Belt Drives Ltd '99 Harley) 0.500 9.516 101.65
This was a "throttling" contest (they don't have pedals) as both bikes
launched into tire smoke. You could see both riders cranking throttle in and out
in an attempt to get it hooked back up and Stordeur was the first to get hooked -
but he loses lane choice to Jack Romine.
(W) Doug Vancil (Vance & Hines '00 Harley) 0.506 6.621 214.62
(L) Ray Price (Ray Price H-D '00 Harley) 0.516 6.620 205.79
Good drag race, just a hundredth apart on the launch and a thousandth apart
on ET, the margin of victory = 0.009 seconds (approximately 3 feet).
(W) Jay Turner (Waugh Enterprises '00 Harley) 0.480 6.641 206.10
(L) Johnny Mancuso (Mancuso Racing '98 Harley) 0.522 6.947 191.70
Turner struggled through a DNQ at Norwalk and a broken bike in the first
qualifying session here, but he appears to have it sorted out now, winning easily
in an upset over Mancuso, but losing lane choice to Vancil in round two.
Sunday
Results for Elimination Rnd 2
EPPING, N.H. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 2 eliminations in
Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley at the 5th annual Amalie Oil Northern Nationals:
W/L Driver RT ET Speed
(W) Steve Stordeur (Mancuso Racing '99 Harley) 0.504 6.852 210.21
(L) Jack Romine (Homewood H-D '99 Harley) 0.501 6.942 186.18
3:57 PM Semifinals time, just two survivors to go to to the finals. An
even start and both riders are a bit off their earlier pace, Stordeur getting
there first by a margin of victory = 0.087 seconds (approximately 24 feet).
(W) Doug Vancil (Vance & Hines '00 Harley) 0.506 6.587 213.40
(L) Jay Turner (Waugh Enterprises '00 Harley) 0.552 (Broke)
Turner's problems return here, the bike stalling when he released the
clutch. No problems in Vancil's lane, a picture-perfect pass to take the win and
lane choice against Stordeur in the finals.
Sunday
