7:03 PM We open the "Night of Fire" with the Omega Top Sportsman Quick 8
and #1 qualifier Sinke faced first alternate O'Dell when Paul Rocco was unable to
answer the call. O'Dell chattered the tires hard while Sinke launched hard and
straight, making a nice run and bettering his qualifying run.

Rockwell left before the tree was activated and then Janis spun the tires
very hard, so Janis' redlight probably cost him the race.
(W) Joe Boniferro ('99 Avenger) 0.000 (Broke)
(L) Mike Swinarski ('68 Camaro) 0.000(R) (Broke)
The winner here will face Janis in round two. But there almost wasn't any
winner. Strange - Boniferro rolled through the beams while staging, then backed
up, then Swinarski left before the tree was activated. Swinarski is the winner
since Boniferro committed the first foul.

Finally a good race - Gleason with a big holeshot, big enough to carry him
to the win.

Yes, this is the final round - the other two competitors (Mike Swinarski and
Larry Sinke) broke, so instead of running two bye runs and then the finals - here
they are! Gleason won the tree, but Janis almost matched his qualifying
performance to win easily.
