Results for Qualifying 1

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - SUMMIT FastNews - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the 2th annual CARQUEST Autumn Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 10.704/81.53, Now #2
Right Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 6.226/203.37, Now #1
3:42 PM Herbert decided to add to the fun by making his first IHRA appearance of the year - as if a three-way points battle wasn't enough fun already. Both went up in tire smoke early in the run. Todd shut it off and coasted through. Herbert pedaled, eventually found some traction, and continued the run.
Left Lane: Jim Head Runs 4.963/299.66, Now #1
Right Lane: Louie Allison Runs 5.272/227.84, Now #2
Jim Head is in fourth in the points and it will take a miracle for him to catch the top three. Lots of clutch dust from these two, Allison shutting down well before the finish line.
Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.776/307.09, Now #1
Right Lane: Jim Bailey Runs 6.644/139.16, Now #5
Millican trails Paul Romine by just 5 points, with Bruce Litton another 12 points behind Millican. That's virtually a dead heat, the top three less than one round of eliminations apart. Millican laid down the challenge with a pretty run, right down the groove. Bailey left hard, but lost traction 100 feet out. He pedaled and continued, much like Herbert's run.
Left Lane: Paul Romine Runs 5.076/292.14, Now #3
Right Lane: Bruce Litton Runs 7.704/100.82, Now #7
Safe pass for Romine, lots of clutch dust behind his car. Litton went out about 300 feet, then lost traction.

difference by 100 feet and then just drove away to move on to round two.
 (W) Bruce Litton (WIX Filters Dragster) 0.516 4.756 315.56
 (L) Steve Smith (Smith Trailers Dragster) 0.532 13.003 67.67

off the starting line. Litton keeps his Championship title drive alive here.

for his boss. Millican did a great job and that Kloeber power comes through to give
Millican the win light and lane choice over Litton in round two by 0.002
seconds.
 (W) Paul Romine (CARQUEST Auto Parts Dragster) 0.502 4.728 310.55

Allison cut the tree down on Romine, but he had the power to blast on through
the quarter-mile with the quickest pass of this round to move on to face Head.

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 2 eliminations in Top
Fuel at the Second annual CARQUEST Autumn Nationals:

 (L) Bruce Litton (WIX Filters Dragster) 0.536 7.795 99.49

Here we go the winner continues his battle for the $200,000 and the Summit
IHRA Top Fuel Championship. Litton went up in smoke along with his Championship
hope by the 200-foot mark. Millican needed to reset et and mph records to collect
enough points to stay in the hunt for the championship. He did it what a pass
by Millican he sets the et mark at 4.679 seconds and the mph record at 322.81
mph.
 (W) Paul Romine (CARQUEST Auto Parts Dragster) 0.508 4.720 318.32
 (L) Jim Head (Big Daddy's BBQ Dragster) 0.537 4.744 306.95

Romine is out of the gate first and had enough power to hold off a hard
charging Head in a great side-by-side drag race. Romine with this pass steals back
the Et Record and the precious points lowering the mark to 4.676 seconds. It will
Millican and Romine for all the marbles in the final with Millican having lane
choice.

Eliminations - Final Round

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 3 eliminations
in Top Fuel at the Second annual CARQUEST Autumn Nationals:

 W/L Driver RT ET Speed

 (W) Clay Millican (eAuto.com Dragster) 0.511 7.475 222.03
 (L) Paul Romine (CARQUEST Auto Parts Dragster) 0.504 14.735 91.86

Here we go. Millican has to win and reset the et record to the Summit IHRA
Championship. Romine leaves first and Millican is right behind him and they then
both go up in smoke within a 100 feet of starting line and pedal it. From there on
all we could see was tire smoke, but we could hear them on and off the throttle at
least two times and maybe three for Millican. Romine gave up by half track not
wanting to risk oiling the track, my guess. By that time he new he had the
Championship won. Congratulations to Paul Romine and all the CARQUEST Top Fuel
team.
