Benny Smith Triples At The Mopar Canadian Nationals

Benny Smith had a weekend that most drivers only dream about during the Mopar Canadian Nationals at Grand Bend Motorplex. Smith, from Lasalle Ontario, wheeled his American Race Cars machine to a triple victory capturing Good Vibrations Top Dragster honors both Saturday and Sunday as well as winning the Top ET class of the bracket program. Smith was a perfect 16-0 for the weekend.

Benny Smith is the second national event triple winner as he follows Jacob Elrod into the record books. Elrod, who was in two final rounds again this year at Grand Bend, was the champion in Super Rod, Quick Rod and Top ET at Grand Bend in 2012 with two different vehicles. Jacob posted a 17-0 record for the weekend due to a Top and Mod ET run-off round that existed that year.

The weekend’s other multiple champion was Alex Kish. The Kalamazoo Michigan racer pulled off a double during the weekend in the Junior Advanced class.
