IHRA mourns the loss of one of its longtime supporters in John “Doc” Sipple.  Doc was a well-respected chiropractor from Berea, Kentucky who routinely aided fellow racers with his skills from his Top Fuel pit area.

He was the owner of Mountain Park Dragway in Kentucky and was named 1997’s Track Operator of the Year.  Doc was a Top Dragster competitor prior to running Top Fuel.  He also wrote health related articles for Drag Review as a guest columnist for a period of time.  In 2002 Doc was awarded IHRA’s most prestigious award, Sportsman of the Year.

"Doc was a great guy and I have a lot of great memories from first meeting him at Mountain Park through the times he ran Top Fuel with us" said IHRA Senior Director Of Racing Operations Mike Baker.  "Doc and the guys were always fun to be around and he really was a big part of the IHRA family.  He will be greatly missed".
