Top Fuel driver Bobby Lagana Jr., K.C. Jones and his “Cannonball Express” jet dragster and 2012 IHRA Sportsman Driver of the Year Jacob Elrod were the guests of honor during Thursday’s media day, showcasing their cars and firing them up and making a few runs for the cameras.

The 2013 CarSafe Northern Nitro Jam will get underway on Friday with testing beginning at 2 p.m. followed by two rounds of Nitro Jam beginning at 7 p.m. On Saturday sportsman racing will begin at 9 a.m. followed by two more rounds of Nitro Jam professional competition beginning at 7 p.m. Sportsman racing on the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL will conclude on Sunday.

This year’s Northern Nitro Jam will feature professional competition in Top Fuel Dragster, AMSOIL Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car, Fuel Altered and Nitro Harley and an incredible show featuring the side-by-side jet truck showdown between the “Shockwave” and “Super Shockwave” jet semis, the Battle of the Jet Trains between “Cannonball Express” and “Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” the “Chevy Rebellion” wheelstander, pyrotechnics and more.
