In 2013 the International Hot Rod Association and the Grand Bend Motorplex will honor the past 13 years of IHRA Nitro Jam competition while celebrating the present by providing a once-in-a-lifetime event that will feature nearly every form of race vehicle on the planet all in one jam-packed weekend at the 2013 MOPAR Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Parts Canada July 19-21 at the Grand Bend Motorplex.

Pro Stock returns to IHRA at Grand Bend
The 2013 MOPAR Nitro Jam Nationals will once again feature a unique lineup of professional and sportsman competition totaling hundreds of racers in multiple classes spread over three days of competition with Ironman trophies being handed out Saturday and Sunday.
Accompanying the nitro-burning machines Nitro Jam has become known for including Top Fuel Dragsters, nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, Fuel Altereds and Nitro Harleys, the 2013 event will also include the return of Mountain Motor Pro Stock to IHRA competition for the first time since 2009, PMRA Pro Mods, five different jet-powered machines and much more.
In sportsman competition the International Hot Rod Association’s Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL will feature seven traveling classes in Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Stock, Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod and Hot Rod plus Top ET, Mod ET and Junior Dragsters. Racers in Pro-Am competition within IHRA’s North Stars Division will battle in two separate races Saturday and Sunday with Sunday’s winners receiving a special edition Nitro Jam Ironman.
Defending winners of the event are Bob Bauer (Top Sportsman), Jamie Tupper (Top Dragster), Jory Elliott (Super Stock), Anthony Platania (Stock), Jacob Elrod (Quick Rod & Hot Rod) and Joe Ferrari (Super Rod). At the 2012 version of the MOPAR Nitro Jam Nationals Jacob Elrod set an IHRA record as the first driver to ever win three classes at a single event, taking the win in Quick Rod, Hot Rod and Top ET.
The excitement of 320 mph Top Fuel Dragsters will return to Ontario July 19-21
In professional competition the Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals will feature four nitro-burning classes highlighted by the 320 mile per hour stars of Top Fuel Dragster. Former Grand Bend winners Bruce Litton and Bobby Lagana will renew their on-track rivalry, joining Kyle Wurtzel and more.
An exciting lineup of nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars will be on display as two-time IHRA World Champion Peter Gallen returns in the “Poverty Stricken” Monza to try and defend his AMSOIL Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car title against the likes of Mike McIntire in “McAttack”, the legendary “Chi-Town Hustler” driven by Mike Minick and the “Bullet Bob” Trans-Am piloted by Rick Krafft.
Rounding out the event will be the daredevils of Nitro Harley, the famous Nostalgia Fuel Altereds of “Nanook” driven by Kyle Hough, “Rat Trap” driven by Ron Hope, “Blind Faith” driven by Ron Maroney and “Arizona Thunder” driven by Mike Hilsabeck and the fan-favorite stars of the PMRA Pro Mod racing series.
Bringing the show to a close will be a unique exhibition featuring the return of Mountain Motor Pro Stocks to the IHRA for the first time since 2009, the 30,000 horsepower Shockwave jet-powered semi and four additional jets including the Battle of the Jet Trains and two of the fastest jet-powered Funny Cars in the world.
Fireworks and an incredible pyrotechnics display will close the evening.
