Test Results from Mike Janis Fuel Sample:

IHRA LogoThe IHRA Competition Department has obtained test results from the fuel sample submitted by Mike Janis following the semi-final round of competition during the Mopar Canadian Nationals at the Grand Bend Motorplex on Sunday June 12 th.

Further testing confirmed the presence of water in the methanol which was the sole cause of the deviation from the accepted specification. The presence of water is not power enhancing, however it does change the accepted specific gravity and will make the sample fail the hydrometer test.

In accordance with the specifications for alcohol outlined on page 111 of the 2005 IHRA rulebook stating, “All racing alcohol / methanol must pass every test mandated by the IHRA Technical Department. No deviation from the federal standards of purity will be accepted.” The sample failed resulting in the subsequent loss of the round.

No hydrocarbons or power enhancing agents were found in any of the samples. “Based upon this information, no further disciplinary action will be taken”, stated Mike Baker, IHRA Director of Competition.
