Having added a new Quick Rod car for Kevin to the team in 2005 there were more than the fair share of bugs to work out. “Once we were able to figure out what it was this new car and combination wanted to make it run the number, we really felt like we had accomplished something,” Kathy explained. “...behind every successful team are a few not so successful years, and we just got one out of the way.” “You know a good education isn’t cheap...no matter how you get it. Like everyone else we're paying for ours one pass at a time.” she added.
Kevin Fisher will return as the driver of the team’s 225” RaceTech Dragster and Kathy will once again pilot the team’s other Quick Rod entry, a 230” Boulton Dragster. The team plans to again tackle the IHRA on the divisional and national levels. Kevin will maintain his duties as Crew Chief for both entries which will continue to sport Performance by Fisher built engines. “Our team...and our crew know what needs to be done,” Kevin explained. “We had some growing pains to go though, and I’m sure we’re not done yet. Every member of this team has an important job to do, no matter how small to get to the ultimate goal.” When asked what would be different for the team in 2006 Kevin mentioned a, “Realignment of job duties.” “Kathy and I began to understand the importance of the team car concept, how we can and should be using it to our advantage. We found during the course of the season what everyone’s strong points are. Kathy is great with numbers and the computer...but don’t put me in front of that thing,” he laughed. “...that’s all her baby. Just let me stick with the tuning and the driving thank you.” Other exciting plans for the team are in the works as well. After a great year of partnership with Dave Elrod on the Moser Engineering QR car that Kevin drove, the team will be moving forward making both Quick Rod cars truly Performance by Fisher Racing team cars. "We're getting my car repainted to match Kathy's," Kevin said. "We did have new renderings completed by Competition Designs.com but it looks like at this point those will have to wait until the '07 season." With the loss of the IHRA National event @ Richmond, the team will be adding the Epping, NH race to this year's schedule as a replacement. The North American Nationals is just one of their of 8 scheduled IHRA national events. "I fell in love with New England Dragway when I was there in '03 as a part of the SPEED TV Crew," Kathy said. "I haven't had the privilege of running the track yet and wanted our team to run the event this year. There was only so much time for so many races. Next year, we finally get to go. The whole area is beautiful and from what I remember of the facility...I can't wait to get on that track."
