IHRA
Pro-Am - Duck Tape Team To Wrap Up Motor City
Nationals
By Michael Beard
Duck
brand duct tape made its debut in the Hooters
IHRA Racing Series last year at the Sunoco World
Nationals at Norwalk Raceway Park, aboard Matt
Zapp's dragster. Now, armed with a full team
and amazing sticktoitiveness, the Duck products
team heads for Milan Dragway for the inaugural
Motor City Nationals.
Zapp will be behind the wheel of the Duck-backed
Hot Rod car, while team member Michael Beard
will be driving Terry Knott's Duck/Loctite Dart
Sport in Stock Eliminator. The duo made their
first appearance in the Hooters IHRA Racing
Series two weeks ago at the Beaver Springs IHRA
Div. 1 Pro-Am event. There, Zapp made it to
the third round in Hot Rod, even without the
use of a throttle stop. Beard
won the first round of Stock, but shattered
a brand new driveshaft in the process and was
unable to return.
The incident occured at the finish line, and
when the driveshaft let go, the transmission
exploded. The team thanks the Auto Shack for
helping them get back on track with a new transmission.
Broken driveshafts need to be replaced. For
everything else, there's Duck brand duct tape!
Although the Pro-Am debut was not everything
the team hoped, the 2003 season has already
been good to the Duck brand duct tape team.
In back-to-back weeks, Beard
knocked off a $5,000 win at Pittsburgh Raceway
Park's No-Box Bonanza, and Marco Abruzzi wheeled
the Duck dragster to a runner-up in the $10K
event at Quaker City Raceway's 1/4-mile Extravaganza,
presented by SportsmanRacing.com.
With everything Loctite-ed back into place,
the Duck brand duct tape team is anxious to
hit the track again! Every racer has "America's
Favorite Tool", Duck brand duct tape, in
their toolbox! There are many more Duck brand
products that will be helpful to racers, though!
Look for the Duck team this weekend, at Milan
Dragway and the inaugural Motor City Nationals.
