Charlie Harmon named Director of Business Development at Southwestern International Raceway

IRG Sports + Entertainment™ (IRG), the parent company of Southwestern International Raceway, announced today that Charlie Harmon has joined the Company as the Director of Business Development at SWIR in Tucson, Ariz.

As a former track operator and manager at major motorsports facilities across the country, as well as serving as Division Director for NHRA’s West Central Division, Harmon brings with him decades of experience in the motorsports arena where he will primarily focus on business development at Southwestern International Raceway.

Harmon resides in southern California and will be working directly with newly appointed General Manager of SWIR, Alan Miller.

“I am personally very excited to welcome Charlie to our team. Having known him for over 15 years, and having worked with him for many years in Memphis with the NMCA World Finals, I know Charlie will do an outstanding job and is a great addition to our company,” said Jason Rittenberry, President and CEO of IRG Sports + Entertainment.

Prior to joining the IRG and SWIR team, Harmon operated and managed a number of motorsports venues including Indianapolis Raceway Park, National Trail Raceway and Kansas City International Raceway.

Harmon currently is co-owner of ProMedia LLC, the parent company of the NMRA, NMCA, NMCA West racing series, as well as the all-Ford publication Race Pages and Fastest Street Car Magazine, which encompasses all domestic makes, models and brands.

Harmon is married to wife Shelly, with two children, Chaz and Kaylee.

“I am really looking forward to Charlie joining our team,” said Alan Miller, General Manager at SWIR. “Having worked directly with him in the past through several different capacities, I am confident that he is going to make an immediate contribution to SWIR and IRG.”

Harmon will primarily work out of the SWIR offices in Tucson, as well as working out of his home in southern California. He will be responsible for all sales and sponsorship revenues, official partnerships at SWIR, as well as business development of track events.

This is a great opportunity to have this privilege to be a member of such a formidable team.” Harmon said. “I have been fortunate throughout my career to work with some of the best people in the motorsports industry and I look forward to bringing that experience to the SWIR and IRG teams.”

As the first stop on the Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series™ (NJDRS) North American Tour, SWIR will host the Southwestern Nationals in March 2015. The IHRA recently announced that NJDRS will feature a number of additional enhancements for next season. SWIR also announced that the Super Chevy Show will debut at the track in May 2015.
