Friday, 26 September 2014

Eddyville Raceway Park’s annual Goalsetter Midwest Junior Dragster Halloween Nationals return to the track October 3-5 with three full days of Junior Dragster racing for all racers ages eight to 18.

A popular event at the Oskaloosa, Iowa based track for the past several years, the Midwest Junior Dragster Halloween Nationals promises to be bigger than ever this year with local sponsor Goalsetter coming onboard for the event.

“This is such a cool event. We have a lot of fun throughout the weekend both on and off the track with some great racing and some great fun and games for all of the racers and their families,” said Gerald Kramer, Track Manager at Eddyville Raceway Park. “Over the years this event has become quite successful, typically drawing racers from six or seven states. This year, with the addition of Goalsetter and our involvement with IHRA, we are hoping to increase the turnout and turn this into an even bigger event.”

Racing action will get underway Friday, October 3 with time trials and a gamblers race during the evening. On Saturday, October 4 racers in four age-based classes will take part in the biggest race of the weekend with two time runs beginning at 10 a.m. followed immediately by eliminations. Racing will continue on Sunday, October 5 with two time trials at 9 a.m. with eliminations to follow.

Saturday’s race will feature four age groups with an IHRA Ironman trophy going to the winner of each class. There will also be a “King of the Track” race on Saturday between the four age group winners. The “King of the Track” winner will receive a brand new basketball hoop system courtesy of event sponsor Goalsetter. Sunday’s race will feature index racing and a number of additional competitions.

In addition to traditional racing, the three-day event will also feature reaction-time contests, dial-in contests, parent races and more. Children will also be able to partake in the first Trick or Treat and costume contests of the year on Saturday.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming all of our returning racers, plus other junior racers throughout the region that want to come out and enjoy a really fun weekend of racing. Everyone is invited,” Kramer said.
