Gleason Raceway Park Captures First-Ever IHRA Division 2 Summit Team Finals Title

HOLLY SPRINGS, MS — Gleason Raceway Park won its first ever IHRA Division 2 Summit Team Finals title last Saturday night at Holly Springs Motorsports.

Division 2 (Heat Wave) features a huge group of tracks: Holly Springs Motorsports, Beacon Dragway, River Road Raceway, Music City Raceway, Centerville Dragway, Gleason Raceway Park, Ozark Raceway Park, State Capitol Raceway, Newport Raceway, Ethridge Motorsports Park, Skelton Raceway, Jackson Dragway and Bonne Terre Drag Strip. 

Team champions

Gleason Raceway Park drivers met in the Top (Box) final. Lonnie Rice raced to the win with a 5.614-second elapsed time at 123.02 mph on a 5.58 dial-in. Ryan Dubois fouled at the start. He posted a 6.836-second run at 100.64 mph against a 6.84 dial-in.

John Burleson from Ethridge Motorsports Park was the winner in the Mod (No Box) class. He put together a strong package with a 6.652-second pass at 98.64 mph against a 6.64 dial-in with a .012 reaction time. Runner-up Kenton Overstreet from Beacon Dragway broke out against his 7.62 dial-in with a 7.616-second pass at 88.37 mph.

Chris Foster from River Road Raceway took the Ironman trophy for the Sportsman class with his .000 start combined with 7.483-second pass at 87.28 mph on a 7.46 dial-in. Overstreet was runner-up in a second class with a 7.616-second pass at 88.77 mph on a 7.62 dial-in with a .055 start.

Gavin Jones from Skelton Raceway got the holeshot in Junior Dragster with a .022 to .092 advantage over Lexi Baehr from Ethridge. Jones posted an elapsed time of 7.923 seconds at 81.54 mph on a 7.91 dial-in. Baehr had an 8.881-second run at 72.43 mph on an 8.87 dial-in.

Music City Raceway continues to be a leader the Motorcycle class as Billy Warren Jr. topped Jonah Allen in the final round. Warren went down the drag strip in 5.642 seconds at 125.35 on a .045 reaction time. Allen broke out on his 5.90 dial-in with a 5.743-second pass at 125.42 mph on a 5.90 dial-in with a .044 reaction time.

River Road Raceway drivers faced off in the Teen Street final with Caleb Sides on the winning side with a 12.146-second pass on an 11.21 dial-in. Jesse Pott broke out on his 10.45 dial-in with a. 10.325-second run.

The track operators race also belonged to River Road with an 11.366-second run at 61.67 mph on an 11.36 dial-in. Centerville had a little better start, but ended up going 10.281 seconds at 71.09 on a 10.60 dial-in.
