Thomson, Lunsford, Dickerson, Willard Win Friday Gamblers Races at IHRA Division 1 Summit Team Finals

ROXBORO, NC — The excitement was ramped up Friday with a second day of Gamblers races at the IHRA Division 1 (Patriots) Summit Team Finals.

Derick Thomson (Box), Rodney Lunsford (No Box), Jaydin Dickerson (Junior Dragster) and Will Willard (Pit Bike / Golf Cart) took the victories at Roxboro Motorsports Park.

Thomson from Elk Creek Dragway had the quick .006 start with a 4.938-second pass at 107.12 mph against a 4.60 dial-in. Brandon Pottorff fouled by leaving -.041 too early. He powered down the drag strip at 5.312 seconds at 99.89 mph on a 4.92 dial-in.

Lunsford, representing the home folks at Roxboro, won the No Box final with a .007 reaction time. He had a 6.602-second elapsed time at 103.26 mph against a 6.58 dial-in. Justin Holston went 6.199 seconds at 106.06 mph on a 6.20 dial-in after a .048 start.

Rodney Lunsford

Dickerson from Elk Creek Dragway won on a holeshot in Junior Dragster, also with a .007 start. He finished in 8.015 seconds at 78.82 mph on a 7.96 dial-in. Runner-up Bryce DeJarnette had a .093 start and then posted a run of 7.949 seconds at 80.98 mph.

The IHRA Summit Team Finals are always known for being some of the most fun events of the year. On that note, Will Willard from Elk Creek Dragway won the Pit Bike / Golf Cart final with a 10.727-second pass on a 10.60 dial-in with a .092 reaction time. Josh Hamblin had a .049 start, but was just short with a 15.209-second run on a 15.00 dial-in time.
