Dino's Custom Paintworks & RaceTech Celebrate
10 Yr. Anniversary
Rockingham,N.C.
This month marks the 10 year milestone for Dino Lawrence, of Dino's Custom Paintworks, and Race Tech Race Cars working together to produce some of the nation's finest appearing Race Cars. "It was 1996, when Russ Farmer first asked me to come up with a paint scheme for his personal dragster", recalled Dino. That started a relationship with the two that still goes on today. "I lost count, but we've done over 75 cars to date, including the two new 'house cars' we just finished, for Travis Harvey and Brett Nesbitt. Back in the beginning, Russ was working out the little old original RaceTech building on Church St. in Burlington,N.C. We were outsourcing our prep & clearwork at that time",said Dino.
Farmer and crew are now located in their new larger facility, complete with in house powder coating. Dino
started doing the paint work as a sideline to his Rockingham,N.C. based Carolina Signworks , but now operates a complete in house paint facility appropriately named Dino's Custom Paintworks. Go to any major IHRA,NHRA,or big bucks bracket race and the combination of Dino's creativity and RaceTech's engineering stand out in the crowd. New for this year will be the introduction of Dino's latest paint techniques, including double clearcoats at no extra charge and overall reduced pricing. As Dino explained," For a real show quality finish ,it's common to clear then wetsand ,then final clear again .This is usually only seen on show vehicles and pretty rare for Drag cars. The slick finish created is unbelievable. It's not done a lot ,due to the extra cost ,or the painter not making it a regular practice. We will, and will not charge extra for it." Plus with his recent conversion to all in-house, Dino can pass the savings of lowered overhead ,to offer some of the lowest comparative prices in the nation.
RaceTech customers can look forward to innovative paint creations on RaceTech's new line of Roadsters and Doorcars.Visit both company's websites for more information. www.racetechracecars.com or www.drag-graphics.com
Defending IHRA Quick Rod World Champion Troy Williams, Jr. Forms Racing Team

Bradenton, FL: Defending IHRA Quick Rod World Champion and former Million Dollar Race Winner Troy Williams, Jr. announced his plans today to form his own sportsman racing team. The thirty-four year old Bradenton, FL native split with his employer of six seasons, Mike Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Motorsports Team, following the Jeg’s U.S. Open Bracket Championships last weekend. In the days since, Williams has purchased the familiar Miller Race Cars dragster that he drove to a Quick Rod win at the IHRA Spring Nationals from his former teammate, and is quickly finalizing plans to finish the 2006 IHRA season (where he currently sits second in IHRA national Quick Rod points), and attend as many big dollar bracket events as possible.
“Before any of the rumors get started, I want to address them now,” stated Williams. “Mike Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Motorsports operation is a class act, and it’s been one of the greatest blessings of my racing career to have been associated with the team for the last six years. Mike has been and will continue to be like a father, big brother, and close friend of mine, all rolled into one--it was just time for both of us to move on. While a part of me is heartbroken that we won’t be racing together every week, I’m also extremely excited at the prospect of owning my own team, and racing for myself for the first time in my professional career.”
Williams, Jr. burst onto the national bracket racing scene in 1998, driving for Ed Richardson and Mullis Race Cars. That season, he not only won the Million Dollar Race, but backed up the feat months later with the overall points championship at the Moroso 5-Day bracket championships. In 1999 he drove to the B&M Racer’s Appreciation Series World Championship, and has added countless big dollar event wins to his resume over the last decade. In 2003, Williams and the Bloomfield Motorsports Team turned their efforts to IHRA competition. Following two seasons of #2 national finishes, Troy claimed the 2005 IHRA Quick Rod World Championship.
Williams, who has been driving race cars for a living since 1998, will now own his own team for the first time in his professional career. “I’ve been extremely fortunate to align myself with some great employers over the years. Since Ed (Richardson) gave me my first big break, I was able to drive for the Selogy Brothers and Butch Pentecost before Mike and I joined forces back in 2000. Now, I’m going to be in the same great equipment that I was driving for Mike, but I’ll be the one handling the day-t-day details and paying the bills. It’s a whole different outlook for me, but I’m really excited about the challenge!”
Williams plans to make his self-employed debut at the Suzuki Motor City Nationals July 7-9 at Milan Dragway (Milan, MI), where he will be piloting his familiar Miller Race Cars Dragster in the Quick Rod category. Future plans include adding a second vehicle for IHRA competition. “I’d like to expand the team to include a Hot Rod or Stock Eliminator entry,“ said Williams.
Troy Williams, Jr. and the Troy Williams, Jr. Motorsports team will promote continued backing from Rockett Brand Race Fuels, Miller Race Cars, Mickey Thompson Tires, Jeg’s High Performance, and Aerospace Components. Williams is also happy to announce an alignment with RevXtreme, as he will join fellow Florida competitors Emily Lewis (www.EmilyLewisRacing.com) and J.P. Hickmon as a RevXtreme representative. RevXtreme is a full service parts and performance shop specializing in all late model high performance cars and trucks. RevXtreme currently has retail facilities in Tama, FL, Fort Myers, FL, and Atlanta, GA (for more information, visit www.RevXtreme.com). Troy also wished to thank the following manufacturers for their support: Holley Performance Products, Milodon, Mr. Gasket, Hedman Hedders, Auto Meter Gauges, Bogacki Marketing Solutions, B&M, Mallory, K&R Performance Engineering, Nitroplate, and PAR Racing Engines.
