Four Summit Pro-Am competitors celebrate twin wins
The Summit Pro-Am Tour season is in full swing, and as the action heats up so do the top drivers in all seven IHRA sportsman categories.
At Montgomery and Coastal Plains this was certainly the case as four racers each doubled up and added a pair of coveted Ironman trophies to their respective collections.
At Coastal Plains, Donald Webb didn’t let the fact that it was a single race deter him from becoming a two-fisted winner. He just went out and took wins in two classes, taking the top spot in Super Rod and Hot Rod.
Over in Montgomery, Michael Beard in Stock and Bob Mandell Jr. in Top Sportsman took both races, while Troy Williams Jr. took the gold in Quick Rod one day and Top Dragster the next. Also putting in solid performances were Steve Furr, who was a winner and runner-up in Super Rod, Jeff Adkinson, who won Super Stock and finished runner-up in Stock in race two, and John Taylor, who celebrated a race-two win and a race-one runner-up in Super Rod.
There’s complete coverage of both races in issue 11 of DRM.
In addition, there’s a look ahead to Edmonton’s Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals, a feature on Virginia’s Natural Bridge Dragway, an in-depth story on Pro Fuel competitor Mike Manners, another installment of Technically Speaking which focuses on racing tire compounds and selection, a CSI Norwalk interview with Bob Mandell Jr., and plenty of other content specifically aimed at the sportsman racing community.
In addition, there’s another nostalgic snapshot from our extensive photo collection, Larry Crum’s “As The Cookie Crumbles,” column, and of course IHRA President Aaron Polburn offers his insights and observations of drag racing and the world in general in “The Last Word.”
All this and a lot more is yours to enjoy in the latest issue of “The Voice Of Sportsman Racing.”
