Just weeks after being named the IHRA Summit Pro-Am Track of the Year, Richmond Dragway and the Henrico County Economic Development Authority have teamed up to take the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am weekend to a whole new level.

Plans are currently underway for major facility upgrades including relighting the track with new light towers, fixtures and service as well as additional pit parking areas to accommodate the anticipated crowds and PA upgrades for our race fans. Finishing touches are also being put on racer centered festivities to be held during the racing weekend.
“With the support of the Henrico County Economic Development Authority, we are going to put an emphasis on growing our already successful Summit Pro Am and Sportsman Nationals event,” said Johnny Davis, Track Operator. This event will be branded the “Henrico County Sportsman Showdown” to be held June 4-6, 2010. The weekend features IHRA racing in Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Stock, Super Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod and Hot Rod with Sunday’s champions automatically earning a spot in the “Tournament of Champions” and the chance to be an IHRA World Champion.
“The emphasis with this partnership is to promote Henrico County as a great place to live in, work in, do business with, and especially to visit. With racers and fans coming from 23 different states as well as multiple Canadian providences in 2009, we are thrilled to show them that Henrico County is a great place to call home.” commented Davis. “Because of the support of the Henrico County Economic Development Authority, we have the tools necessary to speed up the facility plans for the track and will undergo wholesale improvements to the facility for the 2010 season!”
