Montecalvo and team looking to continue recent success
| POSTED: 2009-05-26 18:53:28 |

John Montecalvo and his Mountain Motor Pro Stock team have been on the go a lot lately and success has seemingly been following them everywhere they have been.
They qualified No. 1 at the last IHRA event, the Spring Nationals in Rockingham last month; then went to the semi-final round at Maryland International Raceway’s Mountain Motor Nationals before the race was called due to rain.
This past weekend the team again had a strong run in qualifying, taking second at a race in Memphis and once again the team advanced to the semi-final round where they were met with rain. Now, after several successful weeks on the road, Montecalvo and his crew will make their way to the IHRA Amalie Oil Texas Nationals this weekend in Crandall, Texas.

Montecalvo is looking forward to rejoining the IHRA tour, which is making its debut at the brand new facility near Dallas. Dallas Raceway was just recently completed and the Texas Nationals will be one of the first events held at the facility which has been deemed the “Concrete Palace.”
The track may very well be one of the finest on the IHRA tour and many racers, with Montecalvo being no exception, are excited about seeing what the “Concrete Palace” has to offer.
“I’m excited about this new track. There’s been a lot of talk around this facility and it sounds like a top-notch place. This may be just the spark that IHRA needs. I really feel that IHRA is on their way back and adding this new track is a step in the right direction," Montecalvo said. "Dallas should be a great event and I’m really looking forward to it. No doubt we’ll all be racing with heavy hearts but I know that Shirley (Blankenship) would be honored to see us out there doing what we love and remembering her presence at the event. We’ll make her proud.”
