Pittman a Real Threat with New Mullis Car

With the 2008 Racing season coming to an end, one driver can’t wait for 2009. Darrell Pittman, winner of the 2008 Summit Super Series Box Championship, is anxious to start his title defense behind the wheel of his new dragster from Mullis Race Cars. A long list of champions drive Mullis cars, and now Pittman has added his name to the illustrious list.

“We wanted to build a race car worthy of a champion and we knew Mullis was the right choice,” said Tommy Dupree, National Sales Manager for IHRA.  “Along with Mullis, we partnered with many manufactures who contributed the best parts money can buy.”

The power for the dragster comes from a Bill Mitchell World Products 572, which puts out over 900 horsepower. The power is then sent to a Trans Specialties convertor coupled to a Prince Racing Transmission.

As if Darrell Pittman wasn't tough enough! Armed with this awesome new Mullis Race Cars dragster, this year's Summit SuperSeries Box champion will be going after a second consecutive title with a vengeance.

Goodridge supplied all the necessary plumbing for the Product Engineering fuel system. Hedman Husler Hedders pitched in a set of headers to help all that power breath. Mickey Thompson plants all the power to the ground with a set of wheels and tires.

Spark is handled by MSD ignition and Darryl can keep an eye on things with Autometer carbon fiber gauges. K&R hooked him up with a state of the art launch control and delay box.

Simpson Safety Equipment keeps him safe with a set of belts and a parachute. Aerospace Equipment provides the stop for the dragster as well as the cooling with a complete brake set-up and water pump. A Moroso pan and vacuum pump keep the Amalie oil flowing properly.

Twist & Shout custom Paint, along with Stuart Mitchell Designs, came up with the very unique and colorful paint scheme. Darrell will definitely be hard to miss in the lanes and on the track.

“Darrell and IHRA would like to say a special thanks to all the companies for making this program possible,” Dupree said. “We know how important the Summit SuperSeries is and we’re committed to growing it and making it even better.”
