The Sportsman Nationals at State Capitol Raceway in Baton Rouge, LA that was cancelled this weekend will not be rescheduled for 2008.

Based on the amount of work necessary to clean up the facility after hurricane Gustav, track and IHRA officials agreed that the Sportsman Nationals event could not be rescheduled in a timely manner as to conclude prior to the World Finals in Rockingham.

"Fortunately the storm was not as severe as predicted, but the facility still took on over 100 mph winds and flooding" said IHRA Division Director Frank Kohutek.  "Millions in the area are without power and a massive clean up is underway, so it will take some time to get back to normal and that needs to be the first priority for the track and their staff."
