An update from Bristol via Scott Heaton:
I ran out to the store for a some water and a samich at 3:30 pm today. As I left the track there was a security guard at the gate and that was it. I came back with sammy and water at 3:50 pm and there was a line of cars all the way back out to the turnpike. It feels like it could be a great night. You know how sometimes you go the club and everyone seems to be set on super zube? Things happen that you only see in the movies? Instead of just a few people going off, the whole place is hopping? Tonight feels like that, already. Can’t wait until it is dark.

It could be an all Mustang field tonight in the KOTS. So far all of the contenders I have seen are ‘Stangs. See if any of the owners have a set of danglers or not.
Racing was halted for a few minutes while the main stage came to life. The OutLaw Road Show, had ladies up on stage and the mid way was packed!! A new addition to the stage show this week is the Guitar Hero game. The younger and older crowd have been stacked up 4 deep trying for their turn as the “Guitar Hero”. That is one thing about the main stage, there is always something going on. From cornhole, to “in drag” racing, currently the U.S. Airforce has Airmen on stage conducting the push up contest, and more. Constant fun and entertainment is what you get from the Outlaw Road Show.
It is a good thing there is a lot of area at Bristol Dragway. The USACi Show and Shine stretched all the way from the start line to the top end of the track.
The KOTS is going to be more interesting than it has ever been. Tonight we have several 9 second street legal cars, a few 10 second cars and lots of 11 and 12 second cars. The drivers will negotiate for start intervals. This is going to be loads of FUN!!!
The first round of the KOTS was all about those who did not foul. Most of the slower cars that had negotiated for a handicap on the start, ended up red lighting and taking themselves out of the action. Those cars that I thought would win, did. In round 2 we nearly had an accident, as one of the fastest cars of the night, a mid 9 second Mustang nearly went into the wall at over 120mph. The driver gathered it back in, and still won the race, even though he chopped the throttle 2 or 3 times before the finish. The semi final and main event are gonna be bitchin. A Porsche, a Honda Civic wagon, a Nova, and a Duster. Its going to be interesting. Semi and main at 10pm.
In the semi final event of the KOTS it is a Posche vs. Duster, and the Civic vs. the Nova.

We will see who is the KING! In the semi final, there was a lot of discussion as to how much the cars would be handicapped. After a lengthy conversation, the Duster gave the Porsche 6 tenths of a second advantage, and then won. The Nova gave the Honda 3 seconds and then red lighted for the loss. In the final, the Duster conceded 2 seconds to the Honda Civic, and then he (the Duster) red lighted as well, handing the win to the Honda Civic. The Civic deserved the win. Running consistent and on his number to take the win. Good for him!! In the burn out contest, the most killer Z28 I have ever seen, laid waste to his tires and took the win!
