DRM Issue #9, May 9, 2008 – Matt’s Magical Moment
| POSTED: 2008-05-07 11:17:00 |

Race #2 on the Knoll Gas Motorsports Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series schedule, the Spring Nationals presented by Advance Auto Parts and Castrol, is in the books, and the new-faces-in-the-winner’s-circle trend continued at Rockingham Dragway.
Nitro Funny Car rookie Matt Hagan claimed his first Ironman while Top Fuel newcomer Spencer Massey took his second victory in a row, as did Alcohol Funny car competitor Laurie Cannister. Canadian Kenny Lang broke through for his first Pro Modified win, and Elijah Morton’s Pro Stock victory drought came to an end when he took the win light Sunday night.
Pat Stoken shocked the Pro Mod world during Saturday night’s qualifying session when he rocketed through the top-end traps with an elapsed time of 6.066 seconds at 234.44 mph. The run was the quickest ever recorded by a nitrous-injected Pro Mod car. Another monster nitrous Pro Mod number was laid down by Mike Castellana, who recorded a speed of 236.26 during qualifying. It was the fastest nitrous pass ever documented.
