"Boostaroo" takes crown as King of the Street in killer San Antonio show.

POSTED: 2008-05-04 01:00:00  EMAIL TO A FRIEND  PRINT VIEW

King of the Street started in San Antonio.  Subaru’s, Corvettes, Mustangs, Nissans, and BMW’s.  An 8 car, single elimination field.  Round one at 7pm, semi final and final at 9pm.  It is going to be an interesting night of racing.  The U.S. Airforce is behind the elimination racing, trying to find out who is ready to cross over into the blue.  Blue being victory lane.  San Antonio Raceway is one of the best stops on the Street Warriorz tour.  The amount of show cars and SPL competitors is on of the largest at all of the stops.  The grandstands and staging lanes were full of spectators and racers.  The main stage was full of folks trying to come away with the freebies from Scion and The Airforce.

It’s nearly 7pm.  Time for King of the Street.  It is going to be interesting to see which brand of car comes out on top.  Three Subaru’s and a Corvette advanced out of round one to the semi final.  The bracket is 13.2 to 14.2. All of the cars ran in the numbers with the fastest at 13.36 and the slowest at 14.10  The dream match up would be the blue Subaru WRX and the old black Corvette. But, that is why they run the races.  The losers all were in the running, they can’t wait until next year in San Antonio, to try and be King of the Street.
The semi final and main events are coming up in the U.S. Airforce King of the Street.
2 WRX’s and a Vette, WRX match up.  I’m a domestic guy, even though I dislike all bowties, I will be rooting for the Vette to win.  No Vette.  It was all Subaru!!
Both Semi Finals were dominated by the Subaru drivers.  In the final it was car #9 Franco Natividad vs. car #41 Patrick San Marco.  France ran a 13.01 in his semi, with Patrick tripping the beams at 13.30  In the final, Patrick knew he needed to cut a killer light and was just a little too eager, going red on the start.  Even though Patrick had red lighted, Franco chased him down, passed him and still took a heads up win.  Franco Natividad has won the inaugural U. S. AirForce King of the Street!  Franco ended up with over $250 worth of cash and prizes!!  And the year long bragging rights of being “King of the Street”.

The weather was perfect for Street Warrioz.  A little bit of wind early in the evening helped abate the 90 plus degree temperatures.   The ladies were dressed in their summer attire, which is always one of the biggest bonuses of Street Warriorz.  Sara, the lady in the tower, was enjoying the scantily clad chicks as well.  How can you not enjoy the female body.  It is art in motion.

The staging lanes remained full all evening long.  The regulars and the newcomers were all ready for the street racing action that Scion, Torco and the US AirForce along with 1-800-SAFE AUTO brought to SAR.  It was a steady stream of cars down track and on the return road.  Out in the Torco Race Fuel Pit, where the USACi Show and Shine was held was packed with some of the best show cars in the nation.  It is amazing the amount of time, money and tears are put in to each of these cars.
The burn out competition had a very diverse bunch of cars.  A 1 ton Dodge pickup, a diesel duly Chevy pickup, 2 BMW’s, a Chevy Nova, and a Mustang.  The Nova and thhe Dodge pickup ended up in the final, with the Dodge winning the cash prize.
