2010 IHRA Rulebook Revisions and Clarifications

p. 84 Restraint System:  Change the first sentence to read as follows: A five point, 1 3/4 wide minimum driver restraint system is mandatory.

Harland Sharp Elite 8 TS and TD Participant guidelines: Any TS or TD competitor that wishes to participate in the Elite 8 program must run first round of the regular TS and TD eliminator as well as personally notify the timing tower of your interest to be included in the program.

p. 46 Super Stock Modified:  Add a section in the chassis section that reads as follows: Weight: Cars with fully automatic transmission with converter may remove up to 5% or 250 pounds, whichever is less from regular class weight. Minimum weight includes the driver.

Delete the reference to weight in the in the transmission section on page 47.

 p. 110 Contingency Awards ;Add as number 11 in the section: All winners and runner-ups are required to have pictures taken at Winner’s Circle.  FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTINGENCY MONEY  as photographic confirmation of all claims is required.

Add to Paragraph 4:  Altered includes but is not limited to : changes of color, size, shape or decal content.  Sponsor must notify IHRA Contingency Department in writing of such permission to alter decals for claims”. 

p. 29 Top Sportsman: Helmet: Delete the words M 2010 or K 2005 in the first sentence.

p. 31 Top Dragster: Bodies: Change the second to last sentence of the section to the following:  The maximum front overhang is 30 inches on all dragsters and 43 inches on all front engine altereds as measured from the forward spindle.

p. 84 Restraint System:  Change the word 38.1 to 16.1 in the first sentence.

p. 88 Match Race Exhibition Vehicles:  Change the word: Two Seat Dragster to Two and Three Seat Dragster.

p. 32 Top Dragster: Supercharger: Change the 7th sentence from  32.0 % to 35.0 % overdrive.

p. 36 Super Stock - Transmission, Manual: Change the last word  sentence in the section to the following:  Clutchless units permitted.

p. 97 License and p. 119 Race Credentials: Add as the first line of the section:  All competitors with the exception of Jr. Dragster participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age to compete at IHRA Nitro Jam events.

p. 98 Master Cutoff: Change the 3rd sentence to read as follows: If the switch is mounted to facilitate a push or pull activation, it must be positioned in a way where off is in the push position.

p. 52 Super Stock - Modified Compact: Transmission Shield: Change the line to read. SFI 4.1 mandatory in SS AC.

Stock Fuel Injection Classes:  All entries will be classified using the fresh air or (heaviest) option in the classification guide if both fresh air and non-fresh air options are available on the combination.

 

2009 Revisions  

7/29/09

Addition to Fuel Injection Classes:  AA/FI and AA/FIA are added to the class structure for Stock Eliminator.  The 2 classes are reserved for 2008 and later accepted factory muscle cars.  No existing FI cars may remove weight and enter this class.

 Class Break is 7.50 to 7.99.  Class Index is 10.85 1/4 mile and 7.00 1/8 mile.

p. 114 Changing cars or classes: Add the following at the end of the second paragraph: No competition vehicle may be used by more than one person during an event. If a competitor wishes to change to a different vehicle, it must be a new entry and not one that has been previously qualified by a different driver.

p. 18 Pro Modified:  Weight Minimum:  Add the following:  Turbo charged small block 2,300 lbs.

p. 102 License:  Add to the 7th paragraph in the section:  Professional license passes may be done during the scheduled day sessions at National events. If a competitor must make a Saturday license pass, they may not qualify at the same event regardless of the elapsed time recorded.

p. 57 Gas Tank: Change the sentence to read as follows:   Aftermarket fuel cells are permitted. If OEM type gas tank is retained in place of fuel cell, it must be the correct year make and model for the combination and be in stock location. See General Regulations.

P. 95  Engine Containment System: Add the following at the end of the section:  An IHRA accepted belly pan may be used in place of the diaper in ET ,TS, TD, PS and PM, provided it meets the following criteria.  It must extend from framerail to the framerail and be a minimum of 2 inches high on all sides and extend beyond the engine and its related oil accessories. A non-flammable absorbent pad must be utilized in the device.

Qualifying / Paring Adjustment for Pro Am events: Effective immediately, competitors in Stock and Super Stock must have a valid elapsed time or attempt at least one qualifying pass to be placed on the ladder for eliminations.  No class changes are permitted after a competitor has made a qualifying attempt.

p. 119 Testing: Add the following at the end of the first sentence: unless the event has a testing day scheduled into the format.  License passes may be made on this day in all categories.

P. 31 Top Dragster: Wheelbase:  Change the minimum number for rear engine dragsters from 200” to 175”.

p. 55 Stock Class Breaks:  Add the following text. V/S, V/SA, W/S and W/SA are limited to 4 and 6 cylinder entries.  This replaces the 3/12/09 revision.

p.120  Pro Am Classes: Points: Delete section C under line 3 of the page.

p.70  Hot Rod: Protective Clothing: Change the word “apants” to “pants” in the second line.

p. 102 Master Cutoff: Replace the last sentence of the section with the following: “If the switch is mounted to facilitate a push or pull activation, it must be positioned in a way where off is in the push position.  If the switch is mounted in any other fashion, it must be labeled in a way that is clearly identifiable as to which way off is positioned.”

p. 48 Super Stock: Cylinder Heads: Delete the words, “valve guide location must remain stock.”


p. 85 Jr Dragster: Tires: Change the last sentence to read, “All tires covers must be removed prior to leaving the head of staging area.”

p. 21 Pro Modified: Transmission: Change the section to reference the following, “Automated shifters are permitted on all combinations.”

p. 55 Stock Class Breaks:  Add the following text. V/S and V/SA are limited to 4 and 6 cylinder entries.  W/S and W/SA are limited to 4 cylinder combinations only.

p. 101 Helmet: Change the first sentence of the third paragraph to read as follows: Entries running 11.49 and quicker a minimum of a SN 95 or newer is mandatory.  Entries running 11.50 and slower a minimum of a SN-90 is mandatory.

p. 116 Pairings /Ladders:  Change the end of the first sentence to reflect the following: (Example 8 car field, 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5)

p. 20 Pro Modified: Clutch: Change the last sentence in the section to read, “3 disc maximum on all entries”. 

p. 21 Pro Modified: Rear End Ratio:  Supercharged entries 4.56 to 1 rear end ratio (final drive) maximum.

p. 56 Stock: Cylinder heads:  Delete the last 2 sentences of the section.  Replace with, “Any valve job permitted. All valve seats may be replaced.”

p. 60 Stock GT:  Rear End: Delete the section.  Refer to Stock guidelines.

p. 61 Pure Stock: Ignition: Change the first sentence to read,” OEM or accepted aftermarket units mandatory.”
