Florida packs Immokalee for a sellout.

The 2007 Kumho Street Warriorz season has kicked off with earth-shaking results. Immokalee Regional Raceway started the year with one of the best turnouts in Street Warriorz history. With the 2006 event still etched in South Florida’s mind, there were big expectations. The grudge racing scene in the South has been growing steadily, and nothing proved it stronger than the turnout.

With a strong push from Cha Cho Customs, the show scene has erupted in South Florida. By including such partners as Universal Technical Institute and Torco Race Fuels with the series, the support for the underground is growing. NAPA Auto Parts was on hand with various products showcasing its support for gear-heads. NAPA also brought out some of their show vehicles for the midway and returned with a burnout contest favorite just like last year. LoudestExhaust.com previewed its lineup of automated exhaust cutoffs to the pleasure of Immokalee’s awaiting ears.

With a record turnout in 2006 and the word thoroughly spreading, it was clear the 2007 event was going to be huge well before the gates were swung open. By bumping the gate time 2 hours earlier and opening an hour before the announced time, Immokalee Regional Raceway track owner Ralph Hester prepared thoroughly for the huge turnout. By doubling the event staff and planning for the overwhelming numbers, the event both grew and became more operationally smooth.

Slow Wheely Chris and his crew took over the track for some amazing bike feats. The crew put fairings and fenders on the line in some of the best executed stunt-bike riding the series has ever seen. The Sunsport Cycles crew had the fans in awe with every second they spent on one wheel. Full 1/8 mile burnouts and wheelies weren’t anything new to this crew, but the crowds loved the hardcore show of skill and adrenalin.

With such grudge races as CRX versus Celica and Ford GT versus Corvette Z06, the gamut of street legal, track-worthy beasts were well represented. The staging lanes were chock full of eager racers ready to take on one of the fastest 1/8 mile drag strips in the country.

The United Stated Autosound Competition judged car show saw everything from muraled Eclipses to high-rider Caprices. With the Outlaw SPL gang pushing the decibel limits on the outskirts of the midway, the crowds had plenty to keep their attention fixed to.

If you’re in Florida, and missed your shoat at Immokalee, get ready for Bradenton on April 21!
