Heaton Blog: Las Vegas 2007

POSTED: 2007-08-18 18:28:00  EMAIL TO A FRIEND  PRINT VIEW

It’a been a while since we’ve heard from Scott Heaton, the Kumho Tires Street Warriorz series on-track announcer.  As the voice of Street Warriorz, we decided to see how his electronic voice would be heard.

Here’s a taste of the action at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Kumho Street Warriorz event per Scott:

Hot.  It is hot in Vegas in August.  But, it can get hotter.  Bring out the coolest cars and the most beautiful people in the greater Vegas area, and it gets a lot hotter!!  The show and shine is stacked in the parking lot with some of the sweetest rides in the world.

The best match of the night has been between an old Datsun B-210 or 310, not sure, and a midnight blue Ford Ranchero.  The Ranchero needed to cut a good light to hang with the Datsun, because the Datsun was running about 10mph quicker.  They ended up at the finish line with 16.2 second runs with the Datsun coming out on top by no more than .03 seconds.

A set of Dodge Neon’s, white with a wing, went at it all night long.  Making sure they were always paired up in the staging lanes, they battled head to head.  Car number 143 was a chick, and car #144 was a dude, must have been a couple ‘cuz they not only had matching cars, but matching t-shirts.

Racing is sooo much FUN!!!

I have been keeping an eye on the Datsun all night.  It has been consistently running 86 to 87 miles an hour, and tripping a great light on the tree.  Fun to watch a Mr. Magoo car in 2007!!
Fastest ride of the night has been a Repsol Racing replica Honda CBR 600 going 133 plus on nearly every pass.  He looks to give the start away to his competitors before coming back hard for victory after victory.

The things people spend their money on.  I just saw an ATV, like a Honda of Yamaha, jacked and stacked like the pickups of the 80’s.  It is by far THE tallest 4-wheeler I have ever seen.  It is all part of the spectacle known as the USACi Show and Shine.  The Outlaw SPL competition is just as awe inspiring.  The amount of money spent to make your hearing deteriorate to old man status by the time your 21 seems to be the goal for the loud ass stereo systems you find at a Kumho Tire Street Warriorz event.

I like what beautiful women wear when it gets hot outside.  Nice.

Fastest pass of the night for a door slammer, a 68 Camaro ran 135mph at a 9.30 e.t.
The amount of t.v. screens in the back side of head rests, visors, dash panels, door panels, and any other flat place in, on ,or around the car.  It is amazing the amount of dollars the kids have to day for their toys.

All in all, the Las Vegas event is exactly what you would expect: hot rides, hot women and hot weather.
