Gilbertson was shut off in the water box due to leaking fluids. King crept off the line on the green light and he idled down the track.

This is Creasy's 4th final round appearance this season, having a win and two losses. This is Mitch Kings first Nitro Funny Car final round appearance.

Both cars were skating around some, and both drivers kept the candles lit for the entire 1320. Dale Creasy got the win, and Mitch King lost a little more than just the race. His chutes failed to deploy and he ended up in the sand trap at the end of the shutdown area. The word from the the top end is, the damage to King's car doesn't look to be too severe.
