Qualifying Round 2
TULSA, Okla. - TULSA - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Torco Nitro Funny Car at the 2007 Knoll - Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series, Inaugural Skull Shine Sooner Nationals presented by Wolverine and Academy Sports + Outdoors listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: James Day Runs 5.863/244.52, Now #6
                                   No Prior Run
Right Lane: Todd Simpson Runs 5.327/216.48, Now #5
Best prior run: 11.584/83.75, Was #10

Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 73 percent, barometer 29.48 inches, adjusted altitude 1,922 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

Simpson was on and off the throttle and then clicked it early, but got in the show for now. Day launched and started to shake and was out of the groove, he pedaled it and then got over close to the wall...word from the IHRA officials is that he did tag the wall. Now the report is he didn't hit the wall, so he gets into the show and these two bump out Creasy and Lee.

Left Lane: Andy Kelley Runs 6.928/221.38, Now #8
Best prior run: 10.495/85.90, Was #11
Right Lane: Paul Lee Runs 8.429/100.02, Now #10
Best prior run: 9.482/95.69, Was #10

After a short delay to clean up oil from Simpson...Kelley lost traction right off the started line and pedaled it, but lost traction again. He was off the throttle for what appeared to be long time to let it settle down and was back on the throttle, but lost traction again. He pedaled it a couple more times, but got it in the show for now. Lee was up in smoke right off the starting line and pedaled it, but was back up in smoke and finally clicked it off.
Left Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 5.429/279.61, Now #7
Best prior run: 8.554/95.68, Was #11
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 5.157/250.04, Now #4
Best prior run: 6.165/154.46, Was #7

Creasy started to shake and pedaled it once and got it into the show. That will bump out Kelley who had just got into the show. Haddock improves, not really sure why he clicked it early or if lost a blower belt. He moves into the top half of the show.
Left Lane: Bob Gilbertson No Time, Now #10
Best prior run: 7.934/125.23, Was #10
Right Lane: Jack Wyatt Runs 5.637/191.00, Now #5
Best prior run: 5.180/267.91, Was #5

Gilbertson does his burnout, and leaves a big trail of fuel on the track, apparently broke a fuel line. Wyatt was on a good looking pass until just past half track when he started to haze the tires. It appeared the engine engine started eating self up.
Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 9.694/80.47, Now #3
Best prior run: 5.089/292.20, Was #3

Wilkerson was up in smoke by 300 feet, and he clicked it off.
Left Lane: Jon Capps No Time, Now #2
Best prior run: 5.051/300.60, Was #2
Right Lane: Gary Densham Runs 7.961/112.07, Now #1
Best prior run: 4.887/311.05, Was #1

After 45 minute delay for sprinkles we are back. During the delay Jon Capps pulled out of the lanes, to go back and make sure everything is right for tonight's night of fire. Densham a little more aggressive today and he overpowers the track by 200 feet and clicks it off.
