8 Sunoco Race Fuels, an official partner of the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA), announces the non-ethanol Sunoco Surge is now available. Sunoco Surge is a 105 octane, non- ethanol, leaded racing fuel that is designed to meet or exceed the demands from high performance 2-stroke and 4-stroke applications. This fuel is blended from highly- refined hydrocarbons to ensure a consistent product all year long. Sunoco Surge will offer easy cold starting and quick throttle response, especially in carbureted applications. Common applications for Surge will be small displacement engines found in dirt bikes, ATVs, snowmobiles and side-by-sides as well as drag strip applications with large intake runners. The lead content of Sunoco Surge was engineered to be similar to amounts found in vintage gasolines from the 1960’s. Surge is dyed light yellow to prevent possible confusion when mixing 2-stroke oil into the fuel. Sunoco Surge uses modern additive technology to enhance shelf life and promote engine cleanliness. As with any gasoline, it should be stored in opaque, tightly sealed containers and kept where temperatures are stable. Properly stored, the shelf life of Surge is two years which makes this fuel the perfect match for your vintage automobile. The new product highlights Sunoco’s continued commitment to Motorsports. For decades, Sunoco fuels have been associated with racing excellence. Since the mid-1960’s when Sunoco and the Roger Penske Racing Team with Mark Donohue forged what would be a long and successful alliance, the company has grown into an industry powerhouse. Today, Sunoco has expanded the reach of its racing fuel line around the world to include all types of professional Motorsports and other activities where premium race fuels make a difference. “Sunoco has been committed to grassroots racers from the beginning of our involvement with providing high-quality racing fuels to racers in the 1960’s,” Sunoco Performance Products senior sales manager Terry Thompson said. “Today Sunoco is the largest manufacturer of racing gasoline in the world, and our products are used in the highest tiers of all forms of racing in the U.S. and abroad.” The 18 racing blends of Sunoco fuel are sold to racers around the world. Sunoco partners with over 60 racing organizations and sells fuel at over 500 tracks. Sunoco has been involved with IHRA since the early days of the sanctioning body and enjoys the commitment to grassroots racing. “We are the official fuel of virtually every top-tier professional racing venue in the United States, yet our race fuels department works on a daily basis with racers, race shops, engine builders, weekly race tracks and drag strips throughout the country,” Thompson said. “At Sunoco we love racing, it’s our DNA, and grassroots racing is the heart and soul of our entire sport.” For technical specs about Sunoco Surge or to find a local retailer, go to SunocoRaceFuels.com.
